Dear Parent of 2008 Graduating Highland Senior, The following information is in reference to graduation and the activities
surrounding it. 2. Once again, Stuart’s Photographic Services
will be taking pictures as the students receive their diploma. The proof
will be sent to you, along with an order form, within a few days following
graduation, or you may select and order your pictures on June 2 , 2008,
at www.pickmyprints.com. All photos need to be selected by July 1, 2008.
Please take all your family pictures prior to leaving for the ceremony,
because immediately after the ceremony all students return their gowns.
They keep their cap and tassel. 4. ONLY THOSE STUDENTS WHO HAVE MET ALL THE GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS ARE ALLOWED TO GO THROUGH GRADUATION. All fines must be paid for a student to receive a diploma that evening. If the student’s fines are not paid, they may go through the line, but they will not be allowed to pick up their diploma that day. The Bursar’s Office will accept fine money until 12:00 p.m. the day of graduation. The students may pay fines and pick up their diplomas the day after graduation. Transcripts will not be sent to colleges if fines are not cleared. 5. Take the student’s graduation gown out of the box as soon as you receive it. We recommend you steam it or iron it inside out with a towel over the gown. The student will be shown how to wear the cap and gown properly at rehearsal. STUDENTS ARE NOT TO BRING THEIR CAP AND GOWN TO REHEARSAL. 6. The recommended attire for graduation is
as follows: 7. Last day information: Senior testing will take place on May 21 & 22 during their regular class periods. Seniors are expected to attend the senior assembly on Friday, May 23, at 10:45 a.m. in the big gym. This is the only responsibility they have for that day. May 27 & 28, 2008, can be used to make up homework or class time, as prescribed by their teachers. 8. We ask that you help us make the class of 2008 graduation ceremony an event to remember by treating it with the dignity and respect that it deserves. Students have worked for many years to accomplish this goal and for some of them, it will be their last graduation. We have reminded students that School District #25's policy governs them through the ceremony. We have asked them not to do anything to embarrass themselves or their families. We ask that you talk with your student about conduct because any act by a student, in the judgement of the administration, that is deemed inappropriate will result in the student being removed from the ceremony and/or the student’s diploma being held. Due to past graduation pranks there will be high security at the 2008 graduation ceremony. 9. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM CHEERING AND
APPLAUDING UNTIL ALL STUDENTS HAVE RECEIVED THEIR DIPLOMAS.
All seniors deserve to hear their name announced as they receive their
diploma. Respectfully, David D. Ross, Principal
